Job summary

The Summit Area YMCA in New Jersey seeks a School Age Childcare & Camp Director to lead our before/after school programs and camps in New Providence, Berkeley Heights, and Summit. This full-time role emphasizes leadership, staff development, and safe, engaging experiences for children and families.

You will ensure programs meet state licensing and YMCA standards, manage budgets and enrollment, and build partnerships with schools and families while modeling YMCA values every day.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required by NJ State Licensing Standards.
• Two+ years of supervisory experience in a childcare setting.
• Knowledge of NJ Department of Children and Families regulations for operating a childcare center.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated maturity and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee school age and camp programs to provide safe, engaging experiences for children and families.
• Ensure programs meet state licensing, ACA, and YMCA safety standards.
• Manage budgets, enrollment, and program communications with families.
• Build partnerships with schools, parents, and community organizations.
• Support association-wide initiatives, fundraising, and special events.
• Model YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in daily operations.
