Job summary

The Greater Burlington YMCA is seeking compassionate afterschool staff to support our mission of creating engaging, safe, and inclusive programs for Vermont youth. You will assist the Program Director in delivering enriching activities for children aged 5 to 12, with a heavy emphasis on safety, supervision, and mentorship.

Responsibilities include supervising participants, leading activities, maintaining certifications, and collaborating with a diverse team to provide high-quality programming.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass a federal background check and state fingerprinting.
• At least 6 months of experience working with children.
• Have reliable transportation for consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Safety: Maintain supervision of participants, keep spaces clean, take attendance, and follow emergency procedures as needed.
• Engage: Participate in all program activities and execute content in a dynamic, fun, relatable way.
• Grow: Maintain first aid/CPR, orientation, and BFIS documentation updates with the Director.
• Support: Communicate concerns to the Y Program Director and be flexible for substitutions at other afterschool sites.
• Collaborate: Attend staff development meetings and contribute ideas to improve program quality.
• Be a Professional: Maintain a respectful, positive attitude with staff, families, and participants; accurately maintain time cards.
