Job summary

Metra Commuter Rail is seeking a Director, Capital Delivery Construction to lead a team overseeing bridge, track, station, parking lot, and yard facilities construction projects. The role reports to the Senior Director, Engineering Capital Projects and drives planning, budgeting, scheduling, and contractor oversight across Metra’s six-county region.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
10 years engineering or construction experience that includes project management.
5 years of direct supervisory experience including staff management and budgeting.
Knowledge of engineering construction principles and railroad structures.
Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple complex projects.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within/outside Metra’s region.
Willingness to work flexible hours (early mornings, evenings, weekends).

Responsibilities

Supervise staff across capital construction projects.
Develop and monitor budgets, schedules, and cost controls.
Provide guidance and reporting on project status to leadership.
Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate permitting, regulatory clearances, and vendor contracts.
Oversee contracting processes, task orders, and performance evaluations.
