Job summary

Metra is seeking a Project Manager I to oversee small to mid-range commuter rail projects such as stations, bridges, and related facilities, ensuring on-time delivery within budget and quality standards.

Reporting to the Director of Project Management, you will develop cost estimates, staffing plans, and schedules, collaborating with SMEs and consultants, maintaining project files, and supporting contract administration from bids to payments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction or PM, Engineering or related field, plus two years of PM/engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of infrastructure project management and public works contracts.
• Strong communication, organizational and analytical skills; able to lead interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare project budgets and cost estimates; plan scope and staffing.
• Review plans with SMEs for cost effectiveness and constructibility.
• Conduct on-site inspections and ensure quality and safety standards.
• Manage contracts: bids, changes, payments, and vendor evaluations.
• Maintain stakeholder relations and prepare status reports.
