Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline seeks a Quantitative Systems Pharmacologist Lead to advance model-informed drug development within CPQM. The role partners with biologists, clinicians and statisticians to accelerate respiratory, inflammation and immunology programs through mechanistic modelling and ML.

You will drive end-to-end QSP/QST efforts across preclinical and clinical stages, shaping evidence plans and development strategies for disease targets.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, or PharmD with experience in mechanistic modelling and simulation and systems biology with applications to pharmaceutical R&D.
• Minimum 7 years of mechanistic mathematical modeling, inverse problem modeling and simulation, and/or scientific ML in pre-clinical and/or clinical drug development.
• Experience working with senior stakeholders in a cross-functional environment; track record in Model-Informed Drug Discovery & Development (MIDD).

Responsibilities

• Build and guide mathematical model development to understand disease progression and drug action; conduct simulations to inform trial design.
• Apply mechanistic models of biological and physiological processes to evaluate disease pathways and drug candidates.
• Develop tools including inverse-problem modelling, scientific ML and statistical techniques to gain insight into causal relationships.
• Define and execute a coordinated scientific strategy (3–24 months) coordinating outputs from multiple expertise areas.
• Collaborate with biologists, clinicians, pharmacometricians, statisticians, AIML, imaging and biomarkers to inform R&D programs.
• Implement best practices to advance clinical pharmacology modelling contributions to the R&D pipeline.
• Create a collaboration framework with internal and external experts in model development and application.
• Learn and apply emerging modelling methodologies to enhance program efficiency and decision quality; collaborate with external teams.
• Interact with management and external contacts at strategic and tactical levels.
• Represent QSP CPQM on internal advisory boards and leadership teams.
• Promote transparency and publish R&D achievements in scientific journals.
