Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Wilmington is seeking a Director of Prospect Development to lead prospect research, data modeling, and portfolio management in support of major gifts and leadership annual giving. This role reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Major Gifts and will oversee a development associate for prospect research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Five years of prospect development experience in a university or nonprofit setting.
• Knowledge of fundraising principles, prospect research tools, and fundraising CRM systems.
• Three years of experience managing a team.
• Experience with Raiser's Edge, LexisNexis, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a systematized approach to prospect identification and qualification for a strong pipeline.
• Institute portfolio and pipeline management best practices to support fundraising programs.
• Collaborate with Advancement Services to develop data structures, dashboards, and reports for prospect management.
• Create streamlined proposal generation procedures with templates for personalized conversations and formal proposals.
• Identify, implement and utilize technology solutions that enhance prospect development capabilities.
• Manage the development associate for prospect research, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
