  • Establish corporate policies, procedures, and financial controls to maintain the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial data within the Premium Audit function.
  • Provide strategic direction to ensure all premium audit activities comply with applicable state regulations, industry bureau requirements, including NCCI and WCIRB rules, and relevant NAIC standards.
  • Maintain effective internal and external communication to support company initiatives, operational changes, and consistent implementation across departments.
  • Collaborate with business units to support the launch, implementation, and retention of new markets and insurance programs.
  • Review and approve activities that exceed the authority of individual functional managers.
  • Ensure premium audits and related invoices are accurate, completed on time, and compliant with applicable state and bureau requirements.
  • Oversee the test audit program and bureau data quality compliance, ensuring required standards are consistently met.
  • Monitor regulatory and bureau rule changes and coordinate their timely implementation across relevant functions.
  • Support the development and implementation of corporate systems that meet the needs of internal teams and external stakeholders, including agents, policyholders, reporting bureaus, and financial reporting users.
  • Plan staffing levels and vendor assignments to maintain operational effectiveness while staying within budgetary constraints.
  • Provide general premium audit training to internal departments and agents.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the premium audit management team and staff, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and budgetary expectations.
  • Build a collaborative and inclusive working environment that promotes teamwork, respects employees and stakeholders, and supports strong professional relationships.
  • Oversee recruitment, performance management, employee development, coaching, and motivation across the function.
  • Develop effective management teams and implement results‑oriented training programs to strengthen technical capabilities and address changes in technology, regulations, and business requirements.
  • Develop and manage functional budgets, monitor operating costs, and evaluate the value delivered relative to expenditure.
  • Contribute to special projects and undertake additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements

The ideal candidate is an accomplished insurance leader with extensive premium audit experience, advanced regulatory knowledge, and a proven ability to manage teams and implement organizational improvements. The following qualifications are expected:

  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the insurance industry, including a demonstrated career progression into management roles within premium audit.
  • Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop teams while consistently achieving or exceeding business objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing operational and organizational changes across an entire company.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of insurance manual rules, particularly NCCI or WCIRB requirements, including applicable state‑specific exceptions.
  • Advanced understanding of state insurance regulations and related documentation requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of premium audit operations, quality assurance, financial controls, and compliance practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate effectively and work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management abilities, with a track record of setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and helping teams deliver consistently.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills, with a practical and solution‑oriented approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage budgets, staffing resources, and vendor relationships while balancing operational costs and service quality.
  • Ability to work remotely from a private, quiet, and suitable workspace.
  • Must currently reside in the United States and be authorized to work without employer sponsorship.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to off‑site locations for meetings as required.
Benefits
