Job summary

Waymo is seeking a senior ML leader within the Perception team in the San Francisco area to guide a growing group of software and ML engineers. You will develop models for weather estimation around a vehicle, collaborate with downstream teams, and drive hiring, OKRs, and roadmap execution. This hybrid role reports to an engineering manager.

The role emphasizes experience in ML leadership, building high-performing teams, and delivering real-world autonomous driving solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent deep learning experience.
• Experience managing software engineers and managers.
• Hands-on ML project leadership experience.
• 8+ years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of software and ML engineers to deliver ML solutions for weather estimation around a vehicle.
• Develop ML models that perform well in low-data regimes.
• Collaborate with downstream teams to set requirements and align roadmaps.
• Develop people, hire effectively, and build high-performing teams.
• Drive design and staffing decisions and ensure roadmap execution.
• Represent the team in Perception/Onboard groups and define OKRs.
• Make project and technical decisions and ensure on-time delivery.
