WMC Advanced Physician Services PC seeks a Director of Capacity Management to lead patient placement, bed utilization, and throughput across the health network. The role reports to the VP and oversees Capacity Management Coordinators, Nursing Supervisors, and clinical logistics staff, ensuring safe and timely bed allocations.

Qualifications

• 7 years of experience in a clinical health care setting with supervision and administration of complex clinical processes.
• 2+ years in a leadership role, preferred.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex operational workflows in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and clinical leadership for network patient placement and capacity management functions, including inpatient and behavioral health placement workflows.
• Direct the daily work, coverage, role expectations, productivity standards, and accountability of Capacity Management Coordinators, Nursing Supervisors, and other patient placement personnel to ensure 24/7 operations.
• Hire, orient, coach, mentor, evaluate, develop, recruit, retain, and support assigned staff while planning workforce, scheduling, budgeting, and readiness.
• Ensure patients are placed in the most appropriate bed based on care level, orders, isolation, status, and guidelines.
• Oversee bed assignment and patient flow for all entry points requiring a bed (ED, Cath Lab, OR, PACU, admissions, transfers).
• Develop, implement, and maintain standardized workflows and bed management processes across network facilities.
• Partner with Transfer Center leadership and clinical teams to facilitate timely transfers and safe placement decisions.
• Lead real-time capacity management during high census and surge events, coordinating mitigation strategies.
