Job summary

Harris Health System seeks a Nurse Manager, Patient Flow Command Center to lead system-wide patient flow, capacity management, and throughput across our hospitals. This role directs Bed Management, Transfer Center, and Operations Dispatch, ensuring safe, timely patient movement and optimal resource use.

You will partner with nursing leadership, EMS, and executive teams to implement policies, drive quality improvements, and maintain EMTALA compliance while advancing population health goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
• Master's degree in nursing or related field
• Certification Applicable professional certification in administration or clinical specialty to be completed within two years
• Basic Life Support from an American Heart Association or American Red Cross approved program
• Registered Nurse State of Texas or valid multi-state/compact license
• Seven years of work experience in related clinical area including at least 3 years in Transfer Center or Patient Placement/Bed Management
• Two years of management experience including supervisory or charge nurse
• Above average verbal communication (heavy public contact)
• Exceptional verbal (public speaking) and written communication
• Proficiencies: MS Word, Personal Computer
• Knowledge: EMTALA, clinical transfer/throughput, analytics, research, statistics

Responsibilities

• Lead system wide patient flow, capacity management, and throughput operations 24/7 across Harris Health.
• Oversee Bed Management, Transfer Center, and matrixed Operations Dispatch across hospital pavilions.
• Partner with nursing leadership, EMS, and executive leadership to implement patient flow policies and escalation processes.
• Ensure compliance with EMTALA, policies, regulatory standards, and contracts; drive quality improvement and data driven initiatives.
• Manage multiple projects and provide reports on performance, capacity, and patient access goals.
