Job summary

Applied Materials in Albany, NY is seeking a Director of Pathfinding Solutions to lead and contribute hands-on to next‑generation semiconductor process integration across logic and memory devices. You will operate at the intersection of process engineering, device physics, and materials science, coordinating across product BUs to de-risk and demonstrate integrated pathfinding solutions.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant semiconductor discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in semiconductor process development, integration, or device engineering.
  • Strong publication record and/or a significant patent portfolio.
  • Experience engaging directly with customer technical teams at major semiconductor manufacturers.
  • Deep understanding of device physics, DTCO, and process-structure-property relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and demonstrate integrated pathfinding process solutions for advanced logic and/or memory device architectures.
  • Drive hands‑on process development spanning deposition, etch, implant, epitaxy, CMP, and thermal processing; connect steps into integrated module flows.
  • Identify and solve critical integration challenges for N+1 and N+2 technology nodes through systematic experimentation and DTCO analysis.
  • Engage with senior customer technologists and lead technical discussions in TRMs and pathfinding workshops.
