Job summary

Canopy Aerospace & Defense seeks a hands-on Director of Operational Technology to own day-to-day manufacturing technology and IT operations from the Irvine, CA facility. The role is second-in-command to the CIO, infusing OT governance on the shop floor and in the network room weekly.

The candidate will lead a team, manage vendors, own a budget, and ensure uptime and compliance across OT and IT environments while collaborating with Quality, Facilities, and Engineering.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in information or operational technology with at least 4 years leading a team and budget accountability.
• 5+ years supporting discrete manufacturing; aerospace/defense required.
• Hands-on OT / industrial control experience (machine-tool networks, PLC/HMI/SCADA).
• Experience implementing and sustaining NIST SP 800-171 controls and participation in at least one CMMC readiness effort.
• U.S. Person and able to pass background check; on-site in Irvine five days per week.

Responsibilities

• Own the manufacturing OT network and devices on site in Irvine, including CNC, CMMs, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and data collection.
• Maintain OT asset inventory with model, OS/firmware, network address, criticality, owner, and patch status.
• Design segmentation between enterprise and plant-floor zones and manage the OT DMZ.
• Lead OT and IT incident response, vendor management, and budget ownership.
• Sustain compliance with CMMC, ITAR/SOC 2; support audits and evidence collection.
