Job summary

Canopy Aerospace & Defense is seeking a hands-on Director of Operational Technology to lead day-to-day manufacturing IT/OT operations from our Irvine, California facility. The OT environment is the center of gravity for this role: the machine‑tool network, the controllers and inspection systems attached to it, and the segmentation and controls that keep that environment both running and compliant.

The successful candidate will be on the production floor and in the network room weekly —

Qualifications

• 10+ years in information or operational technology leadership
• Minimum 5 years supporting discrete manufacturing; aerospace/defense preferred
• Hands-on OT/industrial control experience: machine-tool networks, PLC/HMI/SCADA, data collection
• Experience implementing NIST SP 800-171, CMMC readiness, or similar defense environment
• Bachelor’s degree in IT/Engineering or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Own the manufacturing network and devices on site (CNC, CMMs, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, data collection)
• Maintain OT asset inventory with model, OS version, network address, ownership and patch status
• Design segmentation between enterprise and plant-floor zones following ISA-95/NIST standards
• Manage legacy controllers with isolation and compensating controls
• Own secure transfer of NC code, program files, and inspection data between engineering, ERP/PLM, and shop floor
• Set network and remote-access requirements for new equipment in collaboration with Manufacturing Eng, Quality, and Facilities
• Own OT business continuity: backups, restores, and recovery objectives
• Own day-to-day IT service delivery for multiple sites (incidents, changes, problems)
• Maintain uptime for ERP/MES, DNC, shop-floor data collection, labeling and travelers
• Support ERP, CAD/CAM, PLM, simulation environments and license servers
