Job summary

Bombardier seeks a Director of Operations (2nd Shift) for Aerospace Mexico (B.A.M). The role leads a senior team across manufacturing operations, ensuring quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

You will define strategic direction, manage budgets, and drive transformation initiatives in a dynamic, high-stakes environment. The position requires extensive leadership experience in manufacturing, a strong grasp of operational excellence, and the ability to coordinate cross-site programs

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive professional experience in complex business environments.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience at a Manager level.
  • Manufacturing experience required, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or regulated industries.
  • Experience leading strategic projects, plant start-ups, or large-scale transformations.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Understanding of applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements (ISO 9001, QAD).
  • Proven ability to ensure compliance and governance across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the strategic vision for BAES Mexico.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a team of managers and staff with recruitment, performance management, coaching, and development initiatives.
  • Ensure operational excellence, productivity, and results across multiple business units.
  • Establish and oversee plans, governance, metrics, capacity planning, and resource allocation with continuous improvement.
  • Lead cross-site and global projects aligned with priorities and successful execution.
  • Provide leadership in dynamic environments, driving timely, sound decisions.
  • Collaborate with Finance to develop budget strategies and manage expenditures.
  • Foster accountability, engagement, and a culture of excellence.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Partner with senior leadership in defining and executing the strategic vision for BAES Mexico.
  • Develop and implement operational and functional strategies aligned with business objectives and long-term growth plans.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a team of Managers, Supervisors, and professional staff through recruitment, performance management, coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
  • Ensure operational excellence and accountability for the performance, productivity, and results of multiple business units.
  • Establish and oversee business, production, and organizational plans, including governance frameworks, performance metrics, capacity planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and deliver complex cross-site and global projects, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and successful execution.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction in dynamic and complex business environments, making sound and timely decisions to drive results.
  • Optimize workforce planning and organizational effectiveness by defining, managing, and aligning resources with business requirements.
  • Partner closely with Finance to develop budget strategies, manage operational expenditures, and ensure effective allocation of resources across sites.
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, collaboration, accountability, and employee engagement.
  • Champion and promote the Achieve Excellence System, driving continuous improvement and best practices throughout the organization.
  • Support additional strategic initiatives and responsibilities critical to business success.
How to thrive in this role? Skills, knowledge and experience
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive professional experience, with a proven track record of delivering results in complex business environments.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in a Manager-level role or equivalent, leading managers, supervisors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manufacturing experience is required, preferably within the aerospace, automotive, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic projects, plant start-ups, operational expansions, or large-scale transformation initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, operational excellence, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of systems and standards and applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements (ISO 9001, QAD, and related frameworks).
  • Proven ability to ensure compliance, strengthen operational governance, and implement sustainable improvement strategies across the organization.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to lead in complex environments, manage organizational priorities, and drive strategic decision-making.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and team development capabilities.
  • Ability to foster a culture of accountability, engagement, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Availability and flexibility to provide leadership, oversight, and decision-making support during Second Shift operations.
