Job summary

iMentor is seeking a proven Director of Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement (DVRE) for the Chicago region to lead mentor engagement and partnerships. This role oversees a team, develops strategies to mobilize high-quality mentors, and drives recruitment, satisfaction, and retention targets to support students’ postsecondary success.

The ideal candidate has multi-sector experience in volunteer recruitment, business development, and fundraising, with a strong executive presence and relationship

Qualifications

• 7+ years in a high-growth organization with at least 3 years of staff management.
• Experience in partnership, business development, volunteer recruitment and engagement.
• Strong public speaking, writing and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate diverse groups.
• Willingness to travel across Chicago and staff events/weeknights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute iMentor Chicago’s volunteer recruitment strategy to recruit 550–725 new mentors annually.
• Monitor recruitment funnel data in Salesforce and produce progress reports for leadership.
• Manage a significant portion of iMentor Chicago’s corporate partner portfolio and relationships.
• Establish and maintain relationships with private/public/community organizations to support recruitment.
• Coordinate with Executive Director and program teams on mentor community strategies and fundraising.
• Oversee mentor trainings, info sessions, and ensure quality, engaging onboarding.
• Travel 15–20% within Chicago; some weeknights/weekends; in-person requirements 2 days per week.
