Job summary

Fidelity Investments is seeking a Director of Engineering to design, build, and operate its voice platform foundation for a next‑gen contact center. You will lead the architecture and hands‑on delivery of scalable SIP signaling, media processing, and connected voice services.

The role requires deep expertise in FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, and real‑time communications, plus strong leadership across multiple engineering teams.

Qualifications

Requires 10+ years in software development with focus on voice/telephony/real-time comms.
5+ years hands-on production experience with FreeSWITCH and Kamailio.
Deep understanding of FreeSWITCH architecture and integration.
Deep understanding of Kamailio architecture and SIP-routing configuration.
Strong skills in C, C++, Java, or Go.
Experience deploying voice workloads in cloud/hybrid environments.

Responsibilities

Contribute to voice/telephony services architecture and build a programmable voice platform.
Design and implement SIP signaling and media-processing capabilities.
Provide hands-on code contributions, automation, tests, and tooling.
Lead architecture reviews, code reviews, and mentorship across teams.
Ensure high availability, geographic redundancy, and disaster recovery for voice services.
Establish observability standards for the voice platform.
Partner with architecture, security, and product teams to deliver reliable voice capabilities.
