Job summary

Highmark Health seeks a Senior Underwriting Leader to oversee underwriting operations across designated functions or regions, acting as the primary liaison to sales and customers. You will guide insights and recommendations to support customer acquisition and retention, ensure timeliness and quality, and comply with internal and governmental regulations.

The role requires 7 years in underwriting/risk, 5 years in external client interaction, and 5 years in leadership, with travel 25%–50%.

Qualifications

• 7 years of underwriting, risk management, or actuarial experience.
• 5 years of external client interaction.
• 5 years of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform management duties including hiring, coaching, development, rewards, recognition, and performance management.
• Plan, organize, staff, and direct daily operations with budget responsibility.
• Collaborate with Underwriting and Sales leadership to develop region-level book management strategies.
• Coordinate with regional Sales leadership to anticipate client needs and manage intraday workload planning.
• Provide guidance and insights for critical and sensitive clients.
• Understand strategic goals and drive portfolio results toward these goals.
• Develop and maintain positive customer relationships with key stakeholders.
• Oversee execution of strategy and proactively manage risks and issues.
• Ensure integrity and consistent application of Underwriting policies and guidelines.
• Review renewal and prospect quotes to guide modifications and prevent loss.
