Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Director of Operations to lead the Transportation Department, ensuring 24-hour coverage, efficient routing, and compliant operations.

You will supervise drivers and staff, coordinate schedules, and drive process improvements that keep products moving smoothly. The role requires strong leadership, a background in outbound transportation, and knowledge of transportation systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• 3+ years in outbound transportation, preferably in food service.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
• Knowledge of accounting, planning and analytics with increasing responsibility.
• Understanding of distribution systems and cost implications.
• Read/write/understand English at work level for safety and operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Transportation Drivers and administrative staff.
• Plan, direct, and coordinate delivery and backhaul activities to keep products moving smoothly.
• Ensure routes are properly set up and on-time departures.
• Maintain scheduling for current and following week with posted copies.
• Provide training to maintain an efficient workforce and enforce policies.
• Assist with research to improve transportation efficiency and procedures.
