Job summary

The Arc of Prince George's County is seeking a full-time Division Director of Transportation to oversee the Transportation department, manage contract accounts, and drive service quality and growth.

Reporting to the COO, this role requires 7–10 years of transportation leadership, strong negotiation, regulatory knowledge, and a track record of leading teams to achieve KPIs and profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, or related field; 7–10 years of transportation leadership.
• 7–10 years’ experience in transportation and 7 years’ supervisory experience.
• Strong leadership with ability to influence and turn ideas into action.
• Strong carrier, customer or supplier management experience.
• Clear writing and speaking for pitches and presentations.
• Negotiation skills to reach beneficial agreements.
• Analytical skills to read market data and track sales pipelines.
• Experience with forecasts/budgets and managing against budget.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Transportation department.
• Identify new business opportunities, research industries, and close revenue-bearing contracts.
• Lead continuous service level improvements and coordinate cross-functional efforts.
• Work cross-functionally to minimize service disruptions.
• Monitor industry conditions and apply best practices and new technology.
• Manage operations to achieve KPIs for revenue and costs.
• Build partnerships with customers through communication and relationship building.
• Promote safety and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
