Job summary

City of Arlington seeks a Director of Targeted Attraction and State Affairs to lead efforts to attract high-impact companies to Arlington and strengthen its vendor and supplier network. The role also guides the city's legislative engagement at the state level to promote business-friendly policies.

You will develop outreach plans, host events, analyze regulations, manage programs with KPIs and budgets, and collaborate with the EDC, City Council, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, economic development, public policy, or related field.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, business attraction, or legislative affairs, with demonstrated experience with state legislators/committees.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic efforts to attract targeted sectors and vendors/suppliers.
• Develop outreach plans to align relocation/expansion with Arlington assets and incentives.
• Host and participate in business outreach events, conferences, and forums.
• Prepare reports on attraction and legislative activities for EDC leadership and City Council.
• Monitor state legislation/regulations affecting economic development and funding options.
• Travel to targeted industry events and arrange meetings with prospects.
• Coordinate target lists with EDC Board to identify scalable companies.
