Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Boston is seeking an Administrative Director for the Department of Surgery to lead long-range planning, strategic goals, and operational excellence across Cardiac, Thoracic, and Interventional Pulmonology.

You will supervise managers, ensure compliance with accrediting bodies, manage budgets, improve access and patient satisfaction, and coordinate programs with clinical and research faculty.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Business preferred.
• More than 10 years related work experience required; 5–8 years supervisory/management experience required.
• 8–10 years experience in a clinical health care setting.
• Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access).

Responsibilities

• Leads long-range planning and the development of departmental and ambulatory divisional goals, strategic plans and objectives.
• Appoints, develops, directly supervises and evaluates practice managers and clinical managers in designated areas.
• Ensures activities and records meet accrediting, regulatory and reimbursement standards (JCAHO, OSHA, DPH, etc.).
• Develops policies and procedures for department/division and measures success with data.
• Assists in recruitment, salary planning and overall staff development; enhances role definition and standards of practice.
• Coordinates program development through community-based programs, marketing and fundraising opportunities.
• Oversees patient satisfaction surveys, quality control and performance improvement activities.
