Job summary

Nextpower seeks a Director of Structural Engineering for its Project Engineering Team in Fremont, CA. You will lead the US structural engineering group on utility-scale PV projects from development through construction, coordinating with global teams and EPC customers.

The role requires 10+ years in structural engineering, PE licensure, and strong FE analysis skills, with a focus on solar structures and compliance with ASCE/IBC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering, ideally in the EPC solar industry.
• Hands-on structural analysis and design experience (dead, live, snow, wind, seismic).
• Proficiency in finite element analysis software (RISA 3D, STAAD or equivalent).
• PE license in multiple states preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct a team of Structural Engineers in the US and support regions.
• Perform detailed structural analysis and calculations for solar structures.
• Develop advanced structural analysis tools in coordination with R&D and software teams.
• Coordinate with third-party wind tunnel testing and lifecycle testing experts.
• Lead multi-project structural engineering efforts to ensure timely delivery to EPC customers.
• Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards (ASCE, IBC).
• Manage relationships with EPC customers and structural EOR partners throughout design lifecycle.
