Job summary

Planted Solar in Oakland, CA seeks a Structural Project Engineer to own the mechanical and structural design of projects from 10–200+ MW, focusing on structural and geotechnical aspects and site layout. You will coordinate with customers, EORs, and field teams to ensure compliant, cost‑effective designs.

This hands‑on role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, in‑person work in the SF Bay Area, and a drive to deliver high‑quality solar projects with safety and efficiency in mind.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or structural engineering required.
• 3+ years experience designing utility scale solar PV systems or equivalent.
• Proficient in reviewing construction drawings and using design software to optimize site layouts.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer solar projects 10–200+ MW with focus on structural and mechanical aspects.
• Develop structural calculation packages for review by EORs.
• Lead on-site pile load testing and liaise between field and design teams.
• Determine foundation specifications based on loads and soil conditions.
• Collaborate with project managers and procurement to drive outcomes.
• Travel to project sites as needed to support construction.
