Job summary

ICON Technology seeks a Director of Structural Engineering to lead the structural delivery of ICON's design-build projects in Austin, TX. You will serve as Engineer of Record for internal delivery and coordinate with design teams using advanced computational design tools.

The role reports to the Senior Director Design Delivery and requires 9+ years in structural engineering, PE licensure, and experience across multiple material systems.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of structural engineering experience, with concrete systems exposure.
• Licensed PE in your state; ability to obtain Texas PE licensure within 6–8 weeks.
• Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Experience across concrete, wood-framed, light-gauge steel, and structural steel.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software and computational design tools.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, FEA software (Abaqus or equivalent), Navisworks, and MS Office.
• Ability to read architectural drawings, building envelopes, and structural specs.
• Knowledge of testing methods/standards for code compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication with ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Own ICON's structural engineering function and delivery quality across projects.
• Lead and develop the structural engineering team; manage hiring and growth.
• Set structural design standards and adoption across design-build teams.
• Own the structural budget and resources; forecast capacity and remove bottlenecks.
• Contribute to engineering strategy and policy with senior leadership.
