Job summary

ICON is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead regulatory acceptance for its 3D-printed building systems. Based on ICON's Austin campus, you will translate code requirements, review test plans, and author analyses to support advanced product approvals.

You will act as a technical resource for the regulatory team, manage third-party reviews (ICC-ES), and develop acceptance criteria in collaboration with product development and QC teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 6+ years of relevant professional experience in structural engineering, including design, testing, forensic engineering, or building product evaluation.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals and code requirements.
• Experience with building codes and standards that govern structural acceptance (IBC/IRC, ACI, ASCE, ASTM).
• Practical design/testing experience with concrete and masonry systems.
• Ability to analyze test data and draw defensible technical conclusions.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Structure the acceptance case for complex, non-standard product questions and translate code requirements into technical positions.
• Own regulatory review of test plans, specimen designs, and test matrices; coordinate with Product Development testing.
• Author engineering analyses, calculations, and evaluation reports supporting acceptance.
• Define QC outcomes for regulatory acceptance of building products; serve as technical reference for other teams.
• Manage third-party review relationships (ICC-ES) and lead related inspections.
