Job summary

ICON seeks a Senior Architect / Senior Designer to join the Design Build team, driving design, evaluation, and delivery of world-class high-performance buildings using ICON’s technology. You will lead a small, passionate team and influence novel approaches to dignified, affordable, and sustainable shelter worldwide.

You will work from ICON's Austin, TX or Miami, FL campuses, reporting to the VP of Building Design.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in complex, multi-disciplinary design projects.
• Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Google and Adobe Suites.
• Experience coordinating all phases of design (SD, DD, CD, CA) with all disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
• Experience producing and organizing construction documents for complex projects, with an emphasis on integrating building systems.
• Strong experience in Construction Administration, including RFI and submittal review and related correspondence.
• Working knowledge of IRC/IBC codes, ADA guidelines, FHA, and building envelope testing standards.
• Desire to work with a highly collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of ICON’s 3D-printed wall system to optimize comfort, safety, experience, and sustainability.
• Lead project teams in drawing package development across all design stages, ensuring standards and timelines.
• Produce drawings and diagrams to maintain design intent through design and construction.
• Develop construction documents, wall assembly drawings, and envelope details focusing on windows/doors and weatherization.
• Coordinate with CFD/MEP to integrate wall systems with building components in the field.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and material science teams to achieve weatherization and high thermal performance.
• Assist in exploring new wall profiles and configurations for future projects.
• Review consultant drawings to ensure interfaces with printed walls are correct.
