Job summary

ICON is seeking a Director of Structural Engineering to lead the structural delivery of design-build projects in Austin, TX. You will serve as Engineer of Record and guide a growing team across standards, calculations, and field collaboration.

You will coordinate with architecture, materials science, and construction teams, drive design optimization with computational tools, and ensure projects meet codes, schedule, and budget objectives while traveling to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Licensed PE with ability to obtain Texas licensure soon after hire.
• Experience across concrete, wood, light-gauge steel, and structural steel.

Responsibilities

• Own ICON's structural engineering function - standards, tools, and delivery quality.
• Build, lead, and develop the structural engineering team; hiring and growth.
• Set and steward structural design standards, details, and review processes.
• Own the structural engineering budget and capacity forecasting.
• Contribute to engineering strategy and policy; represent structures in roadmap decisions.
• Serve as Engineer of Record across ICON's design-build portfolio.
• Lead calculations and documentation for complete building and wall systems.
• Evaluate systems for code compliance and performance criteria.
• Provide guidance on foundation design across varied sites.
• Collaborate with architects, MEP, and Project Managers to keep projects moving.
• Review drawings for conformance with ICON standards and details.
