Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Staff Operations Director to lead multiple administrative and operational functions within a major business unit, driving program management standards and actionable analysis for executive decision-making.

You will partner with senior leaders to translate strategic imperatives into deliverable plans, manage budgets, and coordinate across departments. This role demands strong communication, governance, and people leadership in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate studies in business, accounting and finance preferred.
• Ten or more years in business management with emphasis on financial analysis, project management and leadership.
• At least five years of management experience required.
• Knowledge of Middle Market underwriting and commercial insurance operations.
• Ability to create executive presentations and deliver them effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication for senior leaders.
• Experience working with business systems and data to develop meaningful reports and insights.
• Leadership, organization, collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains processes to align business initiatives with results.
• Facilitates definition, maintenance and improvements of processes for cost-effective stewardship of assets and results.
• Directs financial management, budgeting and resource planning; provides executive reporting and analysis.
• Manages support services such as facilities, communications, licensing, reporting, and office services.
• Acts as a key member of the business unit leadership team and liaison to other units.
• Manages associates including performance management, salary planning, training and development, and hiring.
