Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Director, Business Capture to lead the company’s capture strategy for U.S. Government, defense, and aerospace opportunities.

You will direct capture planning, qualification, and competitive positioning, partnering with BD, engineering, contracts, and leadership to win major contracts. You will guide cross-functional pursuit teams, evaluate risks and market conditions, and ensure optimal resource alignment to improve win probability.

Qualifications

• 11–15 years of related experience in business capture or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of leadership or management experience in business capture, business development, proposal management, or a related function.
• Expert knowledge of capture management, business development, strategic opportunity management, competitive analysis, and customer engagement.
• Expertise in capture strategy development, opportunity qualification, customer engagement planning, and business development methodologies.
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal procurement processes, customer acquisition strategies, competitive positioning, proposal development, and contract acquisition requirements.
• Extensive experience directing capture organizations, managing strategic opportunity portfolios, developing functional leaders, and coordinating pursuit resources.
• Strategic understanding of aerospace and defense markets, government acquisition priorities, competitive dynamics, and long-term growth objectives.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
• CRM systems, e.g. Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, HubSpot, or equivalent applications.
• Ability to obtain U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Business Capture function by establishing departmental objectives, capture priorities, resource strategies, and plans.
• Lead multiple strategic capture efforts by allocating resources and ensuring effective execution.
• Evaluate pipeline health, resource utilization, and performance; implement improvements.
• Establish capture management strategies, qualification methodologies, and competitive positioning.
• Partner with leadership to develop capture strategies for strategic opportunities.
• Evaluate customer requirements, competitive intelligence, risks, and market conditions to guide actions.
• Lead, coach, and develop Business Capture personnel and foster collaboration.
• Build cross-functional partnerships to ensure coordinated execution of pursuits.
• Represent the function during executive reviews, customer engagements, and planning sessions.
• Direct capture policies, processes, and procedures for consistent execution.
• Manage budgets, staffing, and tools to improve efficiency and outcomes.
• Drive continuous improvement in capture effectiveness and cross-functional collaboration.
