Job summary

Columbia County Solid Waste is seeking a full-time, salaried leader to develop and implement programs in solid waste management, with responsibility for long-range planning, strategy development and fiscal oversight.

The role includes supervising staff, building cooperative relationships with county units, and marketing and negotiating solid waste and recycling contracts with public and private partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science and two years of supervisory experience in waste and recycling programs, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive supervisory experience in Waste Management and Recycling programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and technical expertise for long-range planning, strategy development, and fiscal management.
• Supervise staff and foster cooperative relationships with County Board, Department Heads, Township Boards, and local municipalities.
• Market and negotiate solid waste, recycling sales and transportation contracts with public and private partners.
