Job summary

Columbia County Solid Waste is seeking a full-time director to lead operations, strategy, budgeting and regulatory compliance for the county's waste and recycling programs. The role requires collaboration with the County Board, department heads, township boards and local stakeholders.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's in environmental science with five years supervisory experience, or a strong background with a high school diploma and extensive supervisory work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science and five years supervisory experience in waste and recycling programs or equivalent, OR
• High School diploma with extensive experience including supervisory skills relating to Waste Management and Recycling programs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations.
• Direct operation of the Solid Waste Department.
• Oversee the operation of the County Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
• Market and sell recycled materials processed at the MRF.
• Develop and manage the Solid Waste Department annual budget.
• Maintain records for state reports and grants.
