Western Union is recruiting a Director of Software Engineering to lead multiple engineering teams focused on Core Money Transfer platform delivery and platform health. You will shape the strategic direction, drive roadmaps, and mentor leaders while ensuring measurable business outcomes.

The role emphasizes hybrid work with in-office presence at least three days per week, leading teams across regions, and driving modernization and high standards in engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large-scale mission-critical platforms.
• BS in Computer Science or related field with 12+ years experience, or MS with 10+ years, including 6+ years in leadership.
• Experience leveraging AI-enabled engineering practices to improve quality and productivity.
• Strong collaboration with Product Management and Operations.
• Excellent decision-making and communication skills.
• Deep CS fundamentals and proficiency with distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Guide architectural direction for scalable, high-performance platforms.
• Deliver outcomes by balancing technology investments and product trade-offs.
• Champion quality, performance, observability, and reliability.
