Western Union is hiring a Software Solutions Engineer, Core Bank, in Miami, FL. You will implement core digital banking and wallet solutions and respond to banking enhancements and issues, ensuring rapid delivery across regions and channels.

You will work in a hybrid environment, interfacing with distributed teams, and applying deep knowledge of Core Banking systems, API integrations, and modern SaaS platforms to drive world‑class customer experiences.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a Core Banking engineering function or FinTech equivalent.
• Experience implementing and customizing Core Bank systems with cloud SaaS platforms.
• Hands-on experience with banking systems and BaaS landscape.
• Strong capabilities in architecture, design, and integrations.

Software Solutions Engineer, Core Bank – Miami, FL

Western Union powers your pursuit. We recently launched digital banks and wallets in multiple global markets to enhance our customers’ experiences with a cutting‑edge digital ecosystem. As the Engineer of the Core Banking team, you will implement core digital banking and wallet solutions, respond to Core Banking enhancements and functionality issues, and implement new branches/regions to ensure new digital banking capabilities are delivered quickly to the customers.

Role Responsibilities

• Develop efficient technology solutions to drive Core Banking system implementations and enhancements in the assigned region.
• Demonstrate strong capabilities in assessing business needs while providing creative and effective solutions in conformance to emerging technology standards.
• Execute success through diligent planning, attention to detail, effective delegation, and efficient decision‑making abilities.
• Interface and collaborate with other engineers in geographically distributed development centers.
• Strong emphasis on customer journey, product quality, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and continuous development.
• Develop technical and domain expertise and apply in solving product challenges.
• Estimate engineering efforts, plan implementation, and roll out applications with cross‑functional and cross‑regional impacts.

Role Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a Core Banking engineering function, or related FinTech experience.
• Experience implementing and customizing Core Bank systems with Mambu or similar core bank cloud SaaS platform.
• Experience solving functional product needs by effectively leveraging the configuration capabilities of the underlying core banking systems.
• Hands‑on experience implementing and/or supporting other banking systems, especially in the Banking‑as‑a‑Service landscape.
• Familiarity with Java, Spring Boot, MuleSoft, API integrations, and enterprise SaaS platforms.
• Strong technical skills in architecture patterns, solutions design, and integration development, with the ability to influence road maps, enhancements, and core banking features directly with vendors (Mambu).
• Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, OOPs, and OOA/D.
• Hands‑on experience building a microservices‑based architecture and platform developed and deployed at scale.

Salary

The base salary range is $90,000 - $110,000 USD per year. This role is also eligible to receive an annual bonus that aligns with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.

Hybrid Work Model

This role is classified as Hybrid, allowing employees to divide their time between working from home and working from an office location. The expectation is to work from the office a minimum of three days a week.
