Job summary

Amwins is hiring a Director of Claims for its Self-Funded unit. The role reports to the Vice President of Claims and provides strategic and operational leadership to the Claims Department, driving service excellence, staff development, and continuous improvement.

This in-office role includes a hybrid work option after training, with responsibilities spanning client engagement, performance management, SME guidance, quality and compliance, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize claims

Qualifications

• 7+ years of leadership experience coaching and developing managers or large teams.
• 10+ years in Group Benefits Claims; Stop Loss experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Stop Loss policy terms, regulatory requirements, and complex claims.
• Experience improving departmental workflows, production standards, and quality.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building across teams and partners.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; advanced data/reporting skills are a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Claims Department.
• Drive client service, SLAs, and performance with internal and external partners.
• Lead, coach, and develop Claims Managers and Analysts; oversee training and QA.
• Oversee productivity, quality, staffing, and service performance; use metrics to improve.
• Act as SME on complex claims, regulations, and department processes.
• Lead quality, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
