Job summary

Meta is seeking a Director Software Engineering for Central Security to lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for identity, authentication, and access management across the infrastructure and cloud. You will shape a multi-year strategy, drive automation, and partner with product, security, and compliance to secure AI/ML systems.

You will influence executive risk decisions, mentor engineers globally, and deliver measurable reductions in security incidents while balancing operational velocity

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with security focus.
• 7+ years in engineering management, incl. managers.
• Proven track record building and scaling teams.
• Experience partnering with product, design, data science.
• Strong metrics-driven decision making with trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive multi-year strategy for identity, auth, and access management across infrastructure.
• Lead the development of agent identity/authorization models as AI agents act for people.
• Build and scale a distributed organization of engineers and security staff across sites.
• Translate business needs into security-velocity trade-offs with cross-functional partners.
• Represent IAM perspectives to leadership, advocating investments and risk decisions.
• Drive reduction in access-related incidents by addressing root causes.
• Automate access approval and review processes at scale.
• Define and enforce access policy meeting regulatory obligations.
• Develop controls for geographic expansion into higher-threat environments.
• Escalation point for urgent, highly confidential IAM issues.
