Drug Hunter, a B2B scientific intelligence platform for biotech/pharma R&D, seeks a Director of Scientific Data to own data integrity and ontology across knowledge bases. You will lead the Data team, align scientific curation with engineering and product, and drive scalable data models for complex chemical and biological information.

The role requires a PhD in a life-science field, 10+ years in scientific data, and 3+ years of leadership.

Qualifications

• PhD in cheminformatics, bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, or a related quantitative life-science field.
• 10+ years working with scientific data in drug discovery, biotech, or life science data/informatics companies.
• 3+ years leading people or a data function.
• Working cheminformatics literacy with molecular representations and structure standardization.
• Fluency in bioinformatics with knowledge of biological databases and ontologies.
• Strong data modeling and hands-on Python and SQL; data pipelines and modern tooling.
• Understanding of drug discovery from target to clinic and ability to converse with medicinal chemists and biologists.
• Clear communicator able to bridge science and engineering/product trade-offs.

Responsabilités

• Serve as the primary internal SME for cheminformatics and scientific data across chemistry and biology.
• Own the scientific strategy for acquiring, representing, integrating, normalizing, and maintaining data.
• Define how chemical entities are represented, standardized, and resolved across sources.
• Define approaches for extracting structured scientific information from unstructured content.
• Own data semantics, entity resolution, and ontology strategy across sources.
• Evaluate scientific data sources across chemistry, biology, DMPK, drug, and clinical domains.
• Establish standards for data quality, provenance, validation, and freshness.
• Partner with Science to translate curation decisions into data models and processes.
• Partner with Engineering to define data models and technical approaches for the platform.
• Work with Product Management to translate requirements into project specs.
• Evaluate build-versus-buy decisions for datasets and data tooling.
• Lead the Data team in translating priorities into executable projects and oversee progress.
• Provide scientific and technical leadership, mentorship, and hiring as needed.
