Job summary

Drug Hunter is seeking a Director of Scientific Data & Informatics to own the integrity, structure, and evolution of our scientific data across the knowledge platform. You will lead the scientific data team within our Technical organization and bridge between scientists and engineers.

You will define data models, semantics, and curation standards, and guide architecture decisions with Engineering and Science. A PhD and 10+ years of data experience are expected.

Qualifications

• PhD in cheminformatics, bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, or related quantitative life-science field.
• 10+ years working with scientific data in drug discovery, biotech, or life sciences data/informatics.
• 3+ years leading people or a data function.
• Strong Python and SQL; experience with data pipelines and modern tooling.
• Understanding of drug discovery from target to clinic; ability to converse with chemists and biologists.
• Clear communicator bridging science and engineering/product trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the internal SME for cheminformatics and scientific data across chemistry and biology.
• Own the scientific data strategy including acquisition, representation, integration, normalization, and maintenance.
• Define chemical representation, registration, standardization, and curation standards across sources.
• Lead extraction of structured information from unstructured content and link to canonical entities.
• Own semantics, entity resolution, and ontology strategy across sources.
• Evaluate data sources across chemistry, biology, DMPK, drug, and clinical domains for quality and coverage.
• Establish standards for data quality, provenance, validation, and freshness.
• Collaborate with Science to translate curation decisions into data models and processes.
• Work with Engineering and Product to align data models with platform needs.
• Guide build-vs-buy decisions for datasets and tooling.
• Lead and mentor the Data team and drive executable projects.
