Job summary

The Maryland State Department of Education seeks a Director of School Innovations who will lead and coordinate innovative educational initiatives across Maryland Public Schools, including the Charter School Program and the SEED School of Maryland. This role requires strategic oversight of design, development, implementation and evaluation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or 36 credit hours of post-baccalaureate study.
• Five years of experience coordinating or administering programs related to student support in a K-12 setting.
• At least two years of such experience at LEA central office or State Agency level.
• Substitution options include replacing degree with additional related experience or a Doctorate in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of Maryland Public Charter School Program and the SEED School of Maryland.
• Oversee legislation, fiscal notes (45-50 in a session) and legislative reports for the Division.
• Lead weekly meetings and track legislation and COMAR reports for completion.
