Job Responsibilities:
- Manage / leads in sales and account plus distributor relationships
- Manage Sales Buyers on Distribution Center Level for Natural & Independent Retailers that purchase from KeHE or UNFI
- Increasing alignment and strategic relevance between the organization and business plan execution
- Contribute to both vertical & horizontal growth by category, product, sku, and retailer
- Develops and implements comprehensive business strategies and product sales planning for all National Key Accounts, Regional Natural Account Chains
- Manage relationships and business planning with sales brokers for Natural Markets and independent natural markets.
- Partner with Product, Operations, Accounting and Supply Chain teammates to ensure sufficient inventory levels, address account deductions in a timely and accurate manner, and collaborate on a long-term growth strategy
- Work daily with accounting and marketing management on trade spend and setting appropriate expectations for accounts and distributors by evaluation sales promotion, MCBs, and trade spending.
- Proven ability to manage Promotion Plans; oversee retailer OIs, MCBs, and other discounts, and communicate them internally for proper profitability, margin, and accounting reports
- Trade Show Management of Sales & Logistics: UNFI shows, KeHe shows, Fancy Foods (Specialty Food Association), Regional Account Shows
- Establish forecasting and business growth plans with senior management and broker representatives
- Process orders promptly and professionally, maintaining excellent account relations
- Resolve service, billing, or pricing issues not resolved at initial contact
- Complete and submit all sales reports weekly, monthly, and quarterly by deadlines to ownership, CEO, and finance
Sales Position Required Experience:
- Relevant seasoned years of natural product selling experience, preferably a mix of start-up and major brand experience
- Experience with natural distributors as a sales executive (KeHE, UNFI, DPI, Dot Foods, etc.) and data-driven strategy development
- Expertise in food ingredients, supplements, vitamins, and brain health products, including interpretation of “supplement panels” and related product info
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to deliver executive-level presentations internally and externally
- Ability to communicate effectively with C-Suite and within deadlines, articulating business plan goals
- Innovative approach to sales growth, pricing, and account relationship strategies
- Logical problem-solving skills and systematic decision-making
- Effective partnership development inside and outside the organization
- Financial reporting skills, including sales revenues and balance sheets
- Proven financial competence impacting P&L management
- Decisiveness in uncertain situations and leadership qualities
- Skillful questioning and information gathering to clarify situations
- Ability to identify and seize profitable business opportunities
- Sales planning, forecasting, and goal development skills
- Responsibility for personal and team performance, with goal tracking and feedback
- Conflict resolution skills and ability to deliver impactful communication
- Risk management and adherence to safety laws and standards
- Knowledge of data systems, supply chain, and inventory management
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field
- Minimum 10+ years of natural sales experience, preferably in beverages or natural foods
- Motivated by sales success and business growth
- Expertise in ingredients, health, wellness, and natural food/beverage sectors
- Familiarity with West Coast Natural Retail accounts
- Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-conscious
- Effective in giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Leadership in team-based decision making
- Comfortable in fast-paced, changing environments
- Proficient in sales data analysis, presentations, and reports
- Experience in planning and managing trade shows and related assets
- This is a remote role based in Los Angeles with REQUIRED travel; regular store visits and trade shows
- Must be able to operate remotely with a disciplined work environment
Physical Demands:
- Willingness to travel at least 70% of the time
- Ability to operate on video and computer screens full-time
- Self-motivated remote work setup
- Ability to set up and take down trade show displays
- Positive attitude in digital work environment
Location:
- Home-based in Texas, United States
Compensation:
- Base Salary + Commission
- Target total cash contingent on performance
- Potential for vested equity
