Job summary

The Metropolitan Library System is seeking a Director of Safety and Security to provide strategic leadership for safety, security, emergency preparedness and risk management. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this role establishes systemwide standards, oversees security resources, and uses incident trends to strengthen safety across the library system.

The position is based at the Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library in Oklahoma City, OK, with a salary of $95,388.80 annually for a 40-hour

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; and 10 years of security/public experience.
• Bachelor's degree; and 5 years of security/public experience.
• 2 years of experience leading safety or security operations, programs, or personnel.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Safety and Security provides strategic leadership and direction for the Library's safety, security, emergency preparedness, and risk management programs. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this position establishes systemwide standards, oversees security resources, and uses incident trends and emerging risks to strengthen safety across the system. The Director works closely with library leadership to ensure safety and security practices support welcoming library environments and outstanding public service. This position will be assigned to the Operations division of Metropolitan Library System, located at the Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library at 300 Park Place in Oklahoma City, OK. The hiring salary for this position is $95,388.80 annually. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. This position is exempt from the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. This position is classified as safety-sensitive. The candidate should be available to work all hours the library is open, including some weekends and evenings and have specific availability to work Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 5:00 pm with occasional nights and weekends and availability to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.* *Hours are subject to change based on the needs of the department.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED; and Ten (10) years of security, law enforcement, or military experience working directly with the public; and Two (2) years of experience leading safety or security operations, programs, or personnel. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and Five (5) years of security, law enforcement, or military experience working directly with the public; and Two (2) years of experience leading safety or security operations, programs, or personnel.

Licenses and Certifications:

Required within 120 days of hire: Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) Armed Security Guard License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field. Incident Command (ICS) 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 or 30-hour training Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) certification Accident investigation experience or certification American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) International member, Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), Associate Protection Professional (APP), or Certified Security Professional (CSP) certification
