Job summary

Restaurant Associates seeks a dynamic Director of Retail to lead a high-profile hospitality portfolio at the World Bank. This role oversees 3,500–4,000 daily associates across 5 cafés and 5 coffee bars, with a team of ~150 union hourly staff and six direct-report managers.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in foodservice, hospitality, or retail dining.
• Experience managing high-volume, multi-unit operations.
• Background in budgets, forecasting, and P&L.
• Experience in unionized labor environments is valued.
• Strong client relationship management and communication skills.
• Balance of strategic thinking with hands-on leadership.
• Experience implementing service improvements and retail programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall retail dining operation across multiple cafés and coffee bars.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and P&L management.
• Ensure exceptional guest service and high-quality F&B experiences.
• Develop, coach, and support a team of managers and hourly staff.
• Foster an inclusive culture and employee development.
• Partner with World Bank stakeholders to maintain client relationships.
• Manage labor planning, scheduling, and payroll.
• Ensure compliance with standards, food safety, and union agreements.
• Collaborate with culinary, marketing, and operations teams on concepts.
• Analyze trends and guest feedback for growth and continuous improvement.
• Drive efficiencies while preserving hospitality focus.
• Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, and recognition programs.
