Job summary

The City of Quinlan, TX is seeking a Public Works Director to plan, direct and review the activities of the Public Works and Public Utilities Departments, including engineering, water/wastewater, inspections, and street maintenance. You will coordinate with other city departments and outside agencies and advise the City Administrator on major policy decisions.

Requirements include knowledge of applicable codes, strong communication skills, and a valid driver's license; a Civil Engineering degree

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of applicable public works codes and regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to prepare reports and presentations.
• Ability to build relationships with the public, staff, and officials.
• Proficient in operating heavy and light equipment; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and review Public Works and Public Utilities activities.
• Develop long- and short-term departmental goals and budgets.
• Advise City Administrator and Council on Public Works matters.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state/local regulations (TCEQ, EPA).
• Coordinate with other departments and outside agencies.

Education

High school diploma

Civil Engineering degree preferred

Class B/C water license

Wastewater operator license

Driver's license
