Job summary

The City of Frisco, Texas, seeks an experienced Director of Public Works to lead a high-performing department responsible for streets, water, wastewater, stormwater, and the public right‑of‑way.

The successful candidate will provide executive leadership, develop long-term plans and budgets, ensure compliance with regulations, and build strong relationships with elected officials and the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Five to seven years of progressive leadership experience in a municipal public works department, municipal government, or a related field, including at least five years as a public works director or assistant director, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the Department's operations across all divisions.
• Plan, administer, and direct daily operations and long-range planning for the Department.
• Develop and administer the Department's operating and capital budgets.
• Advise the City Manager's Office on priorities, policy, capital investments, and emerging issues.
• Collaborate with other City departments and external agencies on behalf of Public Works.
