Job summary

The City of Kilgore seeks a Director of Public Works to oversee Streets, Parks, Equipment Services, and Utilities, including water and wastewater treatment. The role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and budget management to deliver projects and ensure regulatory compliance.

A Professional Engineer license is preferred but not required. Reports to the Public Works Director and City Manager; responsible for directing operations, coordinating with federal/state agencies, and guiding

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• Seven years’ experience in engineering design and project management.
• Public sector experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs Public Works staff and operations including multiple divisions.
• Advises City on public works programs and regulatory compliance.
• Develops capital improvement plans, budgets, and rate proposals.
• Directs contracted projects and ensures deliverables meet standards.
• Prepares technical reports and manages interagency coordination.
