Job summary

Shelter House is seeking a Director of Programs to provide strategic leadership for the Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter, an emergency shelter serving families with minor children. You will oversee program operations, staff, data, and budgets to ensure high-quality, housing-focused services.

The role reports to the Senior Director of Homeless Services - Fairfax and requires collaboration across departments to meet funding requirements and organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services or related field.
• Experience leading/homelessness programs is preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for all emergency shelter services and related programs.
• Ensure services align with funder and contract requirements and applicable regulations.
• Develop and maintain program policies and workflows.
• Oversee staff supervision, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
• Support case management with trauma-informed, housing-focused approaches.
• Manage facility operations, safety, and compliance with health regulations.
• Prepare reports for contractual compliance and program evaluation.
• Represent Shelter House to community partners and donors.
