The Beck Group in Austin is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead the development of estimates for large, complex projects and oversee multi‑project teams. You will coordinate with architects and engineers, drive the bidding process from concept through constructability, and guide risk, schedule, and budget to ensure successful outcomes for $50M–$300M ventures.

This role requires proven leadership and deep preconstruction expertise in commercial construction.

Formación

• 15+ years minimum of Preconstruction or related field experience with commercial GC and/or major subcontractor.
• College graduate with degree in Construction Management or Construction Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, pricing, and Divisions 01-33 on commercial projects.
• Led multiple projects simultaneously (hard bid or negotiated).
• Knowledge of local market practices, means, methods, and buy-out strategies.
• Experience developing conceptual/programmatic estimates from limited information.
• Ability to maintain historical costs and update cost databases.
• Ability to conduct preconstruction meetings with Architects, Consultants, and PMs.
• Identify risk factors related to contract, schedule, safety, etc.
• Design/Build experience is a plus.
• Advanced working knowledge of digital takeoff, Assemble; Estimating software like Destini/Revit/SketchUp is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Lead development of estimates and bidding processes from concept to construction documents.
• Coordinate with Operations Managers and Regional Leaders to provide strategy and staff costing.
• Manage multiple multi‑million dollar projects and teams of estimators and bid takers.
• Communicate with Owners, Project teams, and Designers to maintain alignment on scope and budget.
• Review subcontractor scopes, obtain proposals, and develop General Conditions and Construction Requirements costs.
• Mentor Preconstruction staff and participate in business development and client relations.
