Job summary

Google LLC in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Director of Physical Design Engineering to set the technical outlook and lead the execution of next-generation rack-to-chip physical solutions, including robotics, mechanical and thermal systems for Google’s data center roadmap.

You will guide cross-functional teams across hardware, silicon, and supply chains, drive fleet-wide deployment, and mentor engineers to achieve high reliability, scale, and industry leadership in AI hardware delivery.

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience in the computing hardware industry.
• 10 years of experience in technical leadership and engineering management.
• Experience architecting and shipping hyperscale compute, telecom infrastructure, or high-reliability physical hardware products.

Responsibilities

• Lead the physical design roadmap for rack-to-chip hardware and associated tooling.
• Drive mechanical, cooling, and robotics solutions from architecture to volume deployment.
• Collaborate with suppliers and ecosystems to ensure high-yield manufacturing.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to hardware, silicon, and data center teams.
• Set high engineering standards across the organization.
