We’re a Christian nonprofit ministry dedicated to breaking the orphan cycle through community, commerce, and the love of Jesus Christ. In this pivotal role, you’ll shape the human resources strategy for an organization that equips local churches and communities to care for children and families in crisis—while ensuring we lead with integrity, compliance, and purpose.

What You’ll Do:
As the Director of People Operations, you’ll be a key member of our senior leadership team, driving HR initiatives that align with our mission to see every child in the care of a healthy, loving family. You’ll oversee all aspects of People Operations, with a special emphasis on compliance, ensuring our policies and practices honor legal standards and reflect our commitment to fairness and care. Lead with Strategy & Vision:
Develop and execute human resource strategies that support our organizational goals, including talent acquisition, employee development, performance management, and total compensation—all while keeping compliance at the forefront.
Champion Compliance:
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws, including EEOC, FLSA, and OSHA regulations.
Monitor and update policies to maintain legal compliance and mitigate risks, serving as the primary contact for employee relations, ensuring workplace issues are addressed fairly and consistently.
Manage risk by providing guidance on employment practices, contracts, and conflict resolution.
Build a Thriving Team:
Guide a team of individuals to recruit, onboard, train, and retain a high-performing staff that embodies our mission and values.
Lead training initiatives that equip our team to excel while ensuring compliance with labor standards.
Safeguard Our Culture:
Foster a workplace rooted in collaboration, positivity, and mutual accountability.
Implement employee relations strategies that promote a healthy, inclusive environment and address concerns with fairness and legal precision.
Lead initiatives to strengthen employee satisfaction, retention, and professional growth.
Navigate Complexity:
Manage human resource compliance across multiple states as we grow, staying ahead of regulatory changes and advising leadership on their impact.
Oversee payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS to ensure accuracy and alignment with best practices.
Steward Resources:
Develop and manage the People Operations budget, balancing cost-effectiveness with competitive compensation and benefits that reflect our commitment to our team.
Partner with Leadership:
Collaborate with senior leaders to align People initiatives with our broader vision, offering strategic counsel on workforce planning, succession, and compliance-related matters.
Oversee programs to provide training and resources for performance management and employee development.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities You Bring to the Organization:
Education & Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.
7+ years of HR experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR).
Proficiency in HRIS systems, payroll, and benefits administration.
In-depth knowledge of employment law across the United States and HR compliance.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Human Resources Management.
Experience with Paycom HRIS.
Physical Requirements:
This role primarily involves sedentary work, with occasional requirements to lift materials weighing up to 15 pounds, such as office supplies or equipment.
