Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a nursing leader to oversee one or more patient care departments, providing direction and ensuring quality care while managing budget, staffing and process improvement.

You will lead day-to-day operations, recruit and develop staff, align with service line leaders, and drive patient experience and regulatory compliance.

This role requires Texas nursing license and 5 years of clinical leadership experience; Masters preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Nursing from an accredited school; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current State of Texas nursing license or temporary/compact license.
• Five years of progressive clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day operations for assigned patient care departments, maintaining 24/7 operational responsibility and directing clinical and non-clinical staff.
• Reviews and approves all new hires, establishes standards for performance appraisals; coordinates staffing needs with managers and education department; supports staff growth.
• Works with service line leaders to define department scope of service, goals and strategic plan; stays current with new developments.
• Monitors and directs all patient care activities.
• Ensures patient care adheres to service standards and optimizes patient experience.
• Participates in program evaluation, process improvement and outcomes measurement.
• Ensures budget adherence, forecasts expenses and proposes capital items as needed.
• Promotes physician input and communication; engages medical staff in policy development and issue resolution.
• Adheres to regulatory requirements and organizational standards; supports professional growth and education.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
