Job summary

African Safari Wildlife Park is seeking a Director of Facilities and Maintenance to lead the upkeep of park facilities, grounds, and infrastructure, ensuring safety, reliability, and operational readiness for guests, employees, and animals. The role requires hands-on leadership, cross-department collaboration, and a proactive approach to maintenance in a dynamic wildlife environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older and pass pre-employment screening.
• At least 3 years of maintenance, facilities, construction, skilled trades, or related experience.
• Previous supervisory or management experience required.
• Working knowledge of general building maintenance including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and grounds maintenance.
• Ability to work 40–60 hours per week, including some weekend hours, with after-hours emergencies possible.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance of park facilities, buildings, grounds, utilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
• Develop, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance programs and schedules.
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety policies and regulations.
• Oversee grounds upkeep, seasonal maintenance, and guest-area readiness.
• Coordinate maintenance projects and supervise outside contractors and vendors.
• Lead maintenance staff, hire seasonal workers, and prioritize daily work.
